Roger Ballentine, Board Director

 

Roger was a senior member of the White House staff, serving President Bill Clinton as Chairman of the White House Climate Change Task Force and Deputy Assistant to the President for Environmental Initiatives. Prior to being named Deputy Assistant to the President, Mr. Ballentine was Special Assistant to the President for Legislative Affairs, where he focused on energy and environmental issues.

Roger Ballentine is currently the President of Green Strategies Inc., where he assists clients in the energy and environmental arena with domestic and international public policy matters, investment guidance in the "clean tech" marketplace, marketing and business development strategies, sustainability, and capital formation. He is also Visiting Professor at the Harvard Law School teaching in the area of energy and climate policy and is a Senior Fellow at the Progressive Policy Institute in Washington D.C. He has published a number of papers, articles and opinion pieces in nationally and internationally-recognized publications and has been a frequent television and radio commentator.

Mr. Ballentine is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of Connecticut and a Cum Laude graduate of the Harvard Law School. He is a member of the Connecticut, District of Columbia, and the United States Supreme Court bars. He serves on the Board of Environmental Power Corporation (AMEX:EPG) and on the Keystone Energy Board and the Boards of the American Council on Renewable Energy, the American Bird Conservancy, the Biomass Energy Resource Center, the International Fund for China’s Environment and the Solar Electric Light Fund.

 

Mark S. Ain

 

Mark is the Founder and Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kronos Incorporated. Mr. Ain led Kronos from 1977-2005, to become one of the world's most successful software companies. Under Ain's leadership, Kronos sustained one of the longest records of growth and profitability in the software industry and earned the reputation as the market leader in workforce management. Today, as Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors, Ain remains actively engaged in Kronos operations. He also serves on the board of directors of several public, private, and charitable organizations. Among his numerous awards, Ain is most proud of Kronos consistently being recognized as a "Best Places to Work" and receiving multiple NorthFace ScoreBoard Awards for excellence in customer service. As leader of one of the largest software developers in Massachusetts for 28 years, the role of mentor has been a natural and lifelong post for Mark Ain. Mr. Ain has a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and earned a master's degree in business administration, with a concentration in organizational development and marketing, from the Simon School at the University of Rochester.

 
Douglas K. Anderson
   

Douglas K. Anderson is the former President and Chief Operating Officer of Savings Bank of Manchester and a director of Connecticut Bancshares, Inc., until its acquisition by NewAlliance in April 2004. Currently, Mr. Anderson is a Director and the former Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President of Open Solutions, Inc. ("OSI"), a Glastonbury, Connecticut based company that provides e-business and software applications for community financial institutions. Mr. Anderson has considerable experience in many bank operating areas including accounting, legal, information technology and mergers and acquisitions. He also has experience in the technology sector, with 14 years at UNISYS Corporation in software and systems sales, service and management. In addition to his professional affiliations, Mr. Anderson has been on the board of directors of numerous civic and charitable organizations, including Foodshare, the Antiquarian and Landmark Societies and the SBM Charitable Foundation. The Manchester Community College Foundation has also paid special tribute to Mr. Anderson as a board member for his significant fundraising contributions for student scholarships

 

Douglas A. Cummins

   

Mr. Cummins has had extensive senior management experience in several industries focused in manufacturing, distribution and sales and marketing. He has held the positions of President and CEO of three companies in the tobacco and office products industries. He was President and COO of the second largest publicly held US carpet manufacturing company, Salem Carpet Mills, turning the company around and growing revenues to over $430 million. He was also a Vice President at RJReynolds Foods. He was President and CEO of the Liggett Group, an old-line tobacco manufacturer and marketer. Mr. Cummins began his career with several years of consumer brands experience with Ogilvy & Mather Advertising in New York . Mr. Cummins has also served on 14 Boards of Directors extending across a wide range of industries and ownership profiles and currently sits on the Boards of a publicly-held candy manufacturer, a family-owned scientific supply company, a drug testing company and a ceramic materials startup. He has also served on the Boards of two specialty textile manufacturers, a construction tool manufacturer, a bank, a 130-store retail chain and an internet incubator. Mr. Cummins received his A.B. degree with honors from Harvard University and an MBA from Columbia University.

 

Russell E. Erbes

   

Russell Erbes is the Chief Technical Officer at Kleinfelder Incorporated and is a Principal Air Quality Scientist, specializing in air quality issues. He has over 31 years experience in solving air quality and environmental problems. His experience covers an extremely wide variety of energy resource companies, industries, developers, landfills, universities, military installations, and airports, among others. Mr. Erbes has in-depth experience in stationary as well as mobile sources and traditional as well as air toxic emissions. Mr. Erbes has practiced air quality in over 30 States and five different countries. He has served as lead scientist, scientist, and/or project manager on more than 500 different projects; and supervised air quality staff responsible for hundreds of additional projects. Mr. Erbes is a recognized author and lecturer, and is the sole author of A Practical Guide to Air Quality Compliance , Second Edition, published by John Wiley & Sons.. Mr. Erbes has a Master of Science in Atmospheric Science from Colorado State University , Fort Collins , Colorado and a Bachelor of Science in Physics from New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, Socorro , New Mexico . He is a Certified Consulting Meteorologist, No. 544, 1995, and a Registered Environmental Assessor, No. 675, California , 1988.

 

Richard B. Kirby

   

Richard B. Kirby is a partner at Keegan Werlin LLP a law firm representing regulated industries. Mr. Kirby specializes in the areas of Environmental Litigation, construction litigation, products liability, hazardous materials and general civil litigation. Mr. Kirby has also acted as outside general counsel for privately held corporations and has over thirty-three years experience representing clients in state and federal courts. In addition to trials and hearings, he has represented parties in reported decisions in the Appeals Court of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Mr. Kirby is National Coordinating Counsel to several companies in Mass tort litigation. Mr. Kirby currently serves on the Board of Directors for Jobs for Bay State Graduates, Inc. and the Ursuline Academy Development Committee. Mr. Kirby previously was a Partner at Lecomte Emanuelson & Doyle. Prior to receiving his Juris Doctor from Suffolk University Law School, Mr. Kirby completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Suffolk University.

 
James E. McGrath, Director

   

Jim is an expert in the fields of corporate development, general management, and corporate strategy. He has been a founder of or early investor in more than 30 companies, a dozen of which have become publicly traded. He has been an active Board member of both public and private corporations, providing assistance and guidance to both entrepreneurs and outside shareholders facing issues associated with business expansion, organizational development, and becoming or being a publicly-traded company. Mr. McGrath is currently Chairman and CEO of Fairfax Capital Partners, Inc., a privately held investment and business advisory company.

Over a distinguished 30-year career, Jim has held many leadership positions, including: Co-Founder and Director of American Medical Response, Inc., (listed on the NYSE), sold to Laidlaw Industries in 1997 after the Company grew to $1.5 billion in revenue less than six years after its inception; Director and Chairman of Perceptron, Inc., a publicly-traded high-technology company serving the industrial machine vision market where he restructured the organization to double revenues and increase profits more than four-fold in three years; Chairman of the Board of Xycom Automation, Inc., a leading privately held high-technology factory automation company; Managing Director and a Partner at William E. Simon & Sons, Inc., where he helped create the firm’s venture capital fund as well as establish large initiatives in shipping and oil and gas; and President of E.F. Hutton & Company, Inc.’s venture capital division and head of the firm’s merchant banking, leveraged buy-out, and direct acquisition activities.

Jim received his BA degree from Harvard College and his MBA degree from the Harvard Business School. He is active in several charitable organizations, including serving as President of The McLaughlin Foundation.

 
Carlos P. Nauden

   

Carlos P. Naudon, an Attorney and a retired Certified Public Accountant, is Chief Executive Officer of Banking Spectrum, Inc. and a partner in the law firm of Allister & Naudon. Until January 2007, Carlos was a member of the Board of Directors of Open Solutions, Inc., then a publicly traded international banking and payment systems software firm. Carlos assisted in founding Open Solutions and designing its software, and previously served as Chairman, Managing Director and Acting Chief Executive. The Company was privatized in January 2007. Prior to starting his firms in 1984 and from 1978, he was Vice President and Director of Bank Operations and Services at the Community Bankers Association of New York State, now part of the New York State Bankers, Association. Carlos is a frequent lecturer and speaker on banking issues, corporate governance, and quality assurance and performance incentives. In his professional capacity, he specializes in regulatory assistance, institutional management matters and technology. He personally serves a number of financial institutions and their boards of directors, rendering strategic planning, management consultation, board and management governance, and regulatory assistance services.

Carlos is a graduate of the University of Maryland (1972), with a degree in Economics and Computer Science; the University of Rochester's Simon School of Management (1974), with a Masters Degree in Accounting, Finance and Operations Management; and the Brooklyn Law School (1981), with a Doctorate in Jurisprudence.

 

Harry B. Silverman

   

Mr. Silverman is President of CenTech Corporation, an investment and consulting firm working with technology companies. He co-founded and helped build over a 29 year period The Analytic Sciences Corporation (TASC), an applied System Engineering and Information Technology Corporation providing services to the Federal Government including the Department of Defense and intelligence community as well as many clients in Commerce and Industry. Mr. Silverman served as Executive Vice President and Vice Chairman of the Corporation.  He was responsible for all the business activities of the Company and acted as Chief Operating Officer.  He had direct line responsibility for all commercial Sectors including proprietary value-added information services relating to weather, environment and climate, real estate management and utilities. His prior experience was with Dynamic Research Corporation and Honeywell. Mr. Silverman received his B.S.M.E. from Yale University in 1955 and his MBA from Northwestern University in 1956.

 

Steve Webber

   

Steve Webber recently retired as Vice President of Engineering for the Customer Contact Business Unit (CCBU) at Cisco Systems, the worldwide leader in networking for the Internet. In this role, he was responsible for every aspect of engineering and development for Cisco ICM software, Cisco NAM software, and Cisco Customer Interaction Suite. The scope of Webber's responsibility encompassed software engineering and localization, quality assurance, and documentation for all product lines. Steve has more than 30 years' management experience in hardware and software engineering. Prior to joining Cisco, he served as Vice President of Engineering for GeoTel Communications, which was acquired by Cisco in June, 1999. As one of GeoTel's three founders, Webber led the team that developed the company's breakthrough technology for network-level, enterprise-wide intelligent contact distribution, for which he was granted two U.S. patents. Before GeoTel, he served as Director of Engineering for Stratus Computer where, as the company's fourth employee, Webber was responsible for the overall design and architecture of the fault-tolerant VOS operating system. He was also chief architect of Stratus's customer-support application, which featured the industry's first "phone home" capability and garnered the company numerous awards for customer service and technical support. Prior to Stratus, Webber spent 14 years at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in a number of senior-level research and engineering roles related to development of the Multics operating system. While at MIT, he was granted a U.S. patent for innovative work in the area of processor caching architectures. Steve holds a B.A. in physics from Harvard College and attended the Graduate School of Computer Science at Stanford University.
