Of all the podcasts we reviewed, this one came with the most enthusiastic recommendations from EHS professionals. That’s not surprising: Listening to the lively debates and discussions between hosts Stephen Lacey, Katherine Hamilton, and Jigar Shah feels like chatting with your smartest colleagues over a cup of coffee. The podcast covers a new topic each week on energy, cleantech and the environment. While you’re there, check out The Interchange — a weekly podcast on renewable energy business and technology also hosted by Stephen Lacey and Shayle Kann.

Direct Current is a refreshingly human podcast produced by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). The podcast draws back the curtain on the agency past and present, with stories about the history of the Manhattan project, how scientists are turning waste into energy, and even a fascinating look at the DOE’s deepest, darkest energy secrets. Tune in for an entertaining way to keep up on energy policy and see what your tax dollars are up to.
If you’re looking for something on the lighter side, check out Sustainababble — a comedic take on serious sustainability issues. The show, which bills itself as “a weekly podcast about the environment, for and by the confused”, is enlightening but also downright enjoyable to listen to.
Bonus: The Sustainability Review
We didn’t include this one on our main list because the podcast isn’t currently active, but we still think it’s worth a listen. One reviewer called it the “hands down best” podcast on sustainability. You can check out three years’ worth of past episodes in the archives.
