Safe + Sound Week is August 12-18, 2019
OSHA, along with supporters like NIOSH, AIHA, and ASSP, is hosting its third annual Safe + Sound Week from August 12-18, 2019.
Safe + Sound is a year-round campaign to encourage every workplace to have a safety and health program.
During Safe + Sound Week, businesses of all sizes and industries celebrate their safety successes and efforts to be Safe and Sound at Work.
Participating in Safe + Sound Week is a great way to get a new health and safety program started, or energize an existing one.
Below are 10 ideas to participate in Safe + Sound Week this year:
- Share your safety activities on social media using the hashtag #SafeAndSoundAtWork.
- Sign up for the monthly newsletter on being Safe and Sound at Work.
- Create a video (or ask employees to create one) showcasing how and why you make safety a priority. Find examples here and here.
- Invite top management to reaffirm their commitment to safety. This can be done in person at your safety events, in your company email or newsletter, or even through a video message.
- Host a hazard scavenger hunt to increase awareness of common workplace hazards.
- Survey your employees’ perceptions on safety, either on your own or through a third party like The National Safety Council.
- Download fact sheets and product lists for your specific industry.
- Hold a safety award ceremony to recognize safety leaders in your workplace.
- Take the Safe at Work pledge.
- After you've completed your events, download your certificate and web badge to recognize your organization and your workers.
